The Member of Parliament for Ajumako Enyan Essiam, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, is now the Majority Leader of Ghana’s 9th Parliament.

This decision follows the National Democratic Congress (NDC) caucus’s resolution to retain its leadership from the 8th Parliament in the new legislative session.

Supporting Dr Forson is Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, the Member of Parliament for Ellembelle, who has transitioned from his former role as Deputy Minority Leader to serve as the Deputy Majority Leader.

Governs Kwame Agbodza, the MP for Adaklu, has been named the Majority Chief Whip, continuing his vital role in managing party discipline and legislative coordination.

Ahmed Ibrahim, MP for Banda and formerly the Deputy Minority Chief Whip, now assumes the position of Deputy Majority Chief Whip, reflecting continuity in leadership within the NDC’s parliamentary caucus.

These appointments follow the recommendation by President-elect John Dramani Mahama for the NDC caucus to nominate Alban Bagbin as Speaker of Parliament for the 9th session.

Speaker Bagbin, who served in the same capacity during the 8th Parliament, has been a unifying figure for the NDC and the broader legislative house.

The decision to maintain the NDC’s front bench leadership was finalized during a caucus meeting held after the formal dissolution of the 8th Parliament at midnight on January 6, 2025.

This move underscores the party’s confidence in its current leadership team and their ability to navigate the challenges of the upcoming parliamentary term.
