The NPP’s double standards are a danger to Ghana’s democracy – Senyo McKenzie writes

It is increasingly evident that the NPP has chosen the path of political sabotage rather than national service. At a time when Ghana needs unity, maturity, and accountability, the NPP has positioned itself as an obstacle to progress.

Their actions speak louder than their slogans—supporting individuals with questionable conduct, spreading unverified accusations, and exploiting serious national issues for political gain.

Let’s be clear: if the NPP or its affiliates possess evidence of criminal activity such as drug trafficking, the right thing to do is to report it to the appropriate law enforcement agencies. Instead, they resort to grandstanding in the media, choosing spectacle over substance. This isn’t patriotism; it’s recklessness.

More troubling is the party’s willingness to damage Ghana’s reputation internationally just to score cheap political points. This kind of conduct is not just irresponsible—it’s anti-national. A party that claims to be noble and forward-looking should know better.

Historically, the NPP and its ideological predecessors have often found themselves on the wrong side of Ghana’s democratic and developmental journey. Over the last eight years, we have seen an alarming level of resource mismanagement, corruption, and blatant disregard for the common good under their watch.

They claim to uphold democracy, but their tactics suggest they prefer division over dialogue and power over people.

Ghanaians must be vigilant. No party that constantly undermines the sitting government, disregards institutions, and shows little to no remorse for the damage they’ve caused, deserves another shot at leadership. Respect for the country means more than just waving flags—it means putting Ghana first, even when it’s politically inconvenient.

Until the NPP demonstrates genuine commitment to accountability, transparency, and nation-building, they should not be entrusted with the future of this country.
