President John Dramani Mahama has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Ghanaian highlife icon Charles Kwadwo Fosu, widely known as Daddy Lumba, describing him as an irreplaceable musical legend whose legacy will endure through generations.

In a message shared on social media, President Mahama paid glowing tribute to the late musician, emphasizing the profound impact Lumba had on Ghanaian culture and the everyday lives of Ghanaians.

“I have learnt with deep sorrow the passing of Ghanaian music legend, Charles Kwadwo Fosu, affectionately known as Daddy Lumba,” the President wrote. “Lumba’s unmatched musical genius provided the soundtrack to our lives, carrying us through various phases of life. The beats to his memorable songs may have died down, but his enduring legacy will echo through the ages.”

President Mahama extended heartfelt condolences to Daddy Lumba’s family, friends, and fans across the world, stating that the Government of Ghana stands with them in mourning this national loss.

Daddy Lumba, widely regarded as one of the greatest highlife musicians of all time, built a career that spanned over three decades. With a catalogue of hits that blended rich storytelling with infectious rhythms, he helped define the modern Ghanaian sound and influenced countless musicians after him.

His influence transcended music, shaping social and cultural narratives across the country. Though his voice has been silenced, President Mahama affirmed that his songs and the memories they created will live on forever.
