The National Health Students Association of Ghana (NAHSAG) has expressed solidarity in support of a planned demonstration by Unemployed Health Graduates and Rotation Nurses and Midwives.
The demonstration is planned in response to an eight-month delay in allowances for Rotation Nurses and Midwives and the lack of employment for Unemployed Health Graduates since the completion of school in 2020.
NAHSAG in a statement dated Monday, April 15 said, “The National Health Students Association of Ghana (NAHSAG) stands united in support of the upcoming demonstration advocating for the rights of unemployed health graduates, rotation nurses and midwives across the nation.”
NAHSAG urged the government to prioritize expediting financial clearance postings for unemployed health graduates who have been waiting for employment.
“We are by this communiqué urging the government to prioritize expediting financial clearance postings for unemployed health graduates who have been waiting for employment since completing school in 2020. Additionally, we want to call for the timely payment of the delayed eight (8) months rotation nurses and midwives allowances.”
NAHSAG also cautioned to facilitate the process for Unemployed Health Graduates to seek employment opportunities outside the country if the issue is not addressed within 14 days.
“Should these issues remain unaddressed within the next 14 days, NAHSAG will be compelled to facilitate the process for unemployed health graduates to seek employment opportunities outside the country.”
