The commencement of construction work on the Koforidua Ada Magazine road in the New Juaben South Municipality of the Eastern Region is scheduled for tomorrow.
The road, which stretches from Koforidua’s Anlo town to Ada Magazine, serves as a vital link for commuters traveling from the Ashanti region to Akosombo, the Volta Region, and four other districts in the Krobo enclave. This road has been identified as one of the major deteriorated roads in the regional capital, leading to difficulties for travelers.
The Member of Parliament (MP) for New Juaben South, who also serves as the Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, Michael Kofi Okyere Baafi, disclosed in a Citi News interview on Tuesday that the road’s construction will contribute to the 32km of asphalt roads that the residents of Koforidua have gained from the Akufo Addo-led administration.
He also noted that the Minister of Roads and Highways will be visiting the town to oversee the project.
He emphasized the necessity for Koforidua to have quality roads to cope with the heavy rainfall the regional capital experiences annually.
“From tomorrow, we will start from Anlo town towards the Ada end. And this is a new one for that area, so I am sure, as I have also said, we will be able to do things well. The Minister for roads will be coming to town on Wednesday, and we are sure that he will be able to give us more because we expect to get more.”
“Koforidua is a peculiar area. A unique place that we should not get the same number of kilometres that the other regions have. Note that we are amongst the first best four regions in the country. Koforidua is also that we record a lot of rain within a year. It means that we need to have good roads,” he stated.
