Unposted Environmental Health and Assistant Officers have expressed their disappointment in government over what they say is government’s failure to post them following the expiration of the thirty-day ultimatum.
On April 17, 2024, the group embarked on a demonstration, giving government thirty days to post them.
The group, in a press statement issued on May 21, expressed fears that there could be hikes in sanitation situations at the various health centers.
“Thirty days after the demonstration, government inaction continues to endanger public health as far as sanitary-related diseases are on the rise at the various health centers. As the thirty-day ultimatum given to the government elapsed, we unposted Environmental Health Officers and Assistants Association of Ghana expires, the association expresses its deep disappointment over the continued inaction and calls for immediate steps to be taken to post all qualified professionals.”
The group also reminded the Ministry of Water and Sanitation that there’s no ban on employment, as the ministry’s earlier letter allegedly indicated.
