The timely completion of the Three Junction to Doblo Gonno Road in the Ga West Municipality will ease the financial burden on passengers who use this stretch.
According to passengers, only a few public vehicle drivers are willing to ply the route, resulting in high transportation charges.
Residents and motorists who use the Three Junction to Doblo Gonno Road have staged several demonstrations to get the government’s attention to fix the deplorable road.
According to them, the road has been in a poor state for a long time. The road spans from Three Junction to Achiaman, Doblo-Gonno, Ardeyman, Kwashiekumah, and the Dome Sampaman to Kotoku link. When made motorable, it will ease the stress of commuting daily.
Some passengers and drivers insist the road must be fixed promptly and properly.
The road, constructed barely four years ago, has deteriorated and worsened with the onset of the rains.
The Minister for Roads and Highways, Francis Asenso-Boakye, and his entourage inspected the road in June 2024 and reassigned the Amasaman Three Junction to Kojo-Ashong Road project to a new contractor.
Assembly Member for Achiaman, Charles Abusah, indicated that “Drivers are bearing the brunt of the poor condition. The dust on the stretch is a significant concern and must be watered. The road is taking a toll on our finance and health.”
“They started last week, that was after the visit of the sector minister and that very day he made it emphatically that he’ll make sure the contractor will come back to site. He also promised that this time around he’ll move the road to urban roads. I’ve spoken to the engineer in charge representing the urban roads and he has confirmed that he is in charge.”
The Municipal Chief Executive for Ga West, Clement Wilkinson, urged residents and motorists to exercise patience as the government ensures the road is fixed.
