Nana Kwaku Appiah, the leader of the Spiritual Awareness Movement, has been appointed as the Nkosuohene of Kwahu Aduamoa.
A vibrant event, reflecting the rich cultural heritage of Kwahu Aduamoa, was held at the Aduamoa Chiefs Palace on Saturday, 23rd June 2024 to mark this occasion.
This appointment is a testament to his exceptional leadership and organisational abilities.
Known widely as Maharaja ACHARYA, Appiah underwent traditional rites and pledged his oath of office before Nana Ahia-Tutu Brempong, Aduamoa Hene and Kwahuman Benkum Hene, other sub-chiefs and the people of Kwahu Aduamoa. He vowed to uphold the customs and traditions of the people and to always act justly.
Subsequently, he was hoisted shoulder-high and paraded through the main streets of Aduamoa town. This procession was met with cheers from spectators, served to announce his new role as their Development Chief.
In a conversation with journalists after the ceremony, he expressed deep gratitude to the Chiefs and elders for the honour bestowed upon him. He pledged to elevate the developmental needs of the people.
“It would be an honour to contribute my quota towards the development of my people”, ACHARYA added.
Nana Ahia-Tutu Brempong, Aduamoa Hene and Kwahuman Benkum Hene, revealed that the vetting committee, after observing him for a while, recognised his potential for development, leading to their faith in him.
The title of Nkosuohene is conferred upon individuals who, though not of royal lineage, possess qualities beneficial to the community. The title is typically awarded to individuals who are selfless, have a vision for the community, prioritise the welfare of the community, and most importantly, have knowledge about community development.
