President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has asked the Ministry of the Roads and Highways to ensure strict axle compliance on the newly constructed Bechem-Techimantia-Akomadan road.
President Akufo-Addo made the appeal when he commissioned the 40.40-kilometer Bechem-Techimantia-Akomadan road which was constructed at the cost of 50 million Euros.
The President noted that the completion of the road will improve economic activities along the stretch.
“The Bechem-Techimantia-Akomadan road project carries national regional and international traffic, thereby fostering economic development as well as regional trade and integration. The completion of the Bechem-Techimantia-Akomadan road is part of the measures that the government has put in place to improve the conditions of the road network in the county.
“I wish to draw the attention of the Ministry of the Roads and Highways to the need to enforce axle load restrictions of this beautiful road. In addition, the ministry should ensure that the regular routine maintenance of the road is carried out. This is necessary to protect the huge investment that the government has made in the road that is the amount of 50 million euros spent on the road,” he stated.
