Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the former Deputy Information Minister, has cautioned the New Patriotic Party (NPP) about their prospects in the upcoming December polls.
He warned them against self-deception regarding the election outcome.
This warning follows a prediction by Fitch Solutions, an international research and data firm, of a victory for John Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2024 general elections. The London-based firm, consistent with its forecast since last year, argues that 54% of surveyed respondents tipped the former president as the winner in the forthcoming presidential election.
In its mid-year review for Sub-Saharan Africa, Fitch Solutions explained that the current economic state will significantly influence voters’ choice on December 7.
In an interview with Umaru Sanda Amadu on Eyewitness News on Citi FM, Ofosu indicated that the country is experiencing its worst economic situation since the inception of the fourth republic.
He further stated that the NDC is not relenting in its efforts, and for this reason, the NPP should not deceive itself into thinking it can win the upcoming polls.
“This is the worst economic situation we’ve had since the fourth republic began even if we were charitable. So, there is no scenario under which the NPP wins this election. As I told you we are not complacent by nature…. Mahama has been campaigning for three years straight Bawumia has been campaigning for less than 6 months.”
“…The fact is that their time is up. They have been abysmal, woeful. The very worst we have seen in our country…So let no nobody in the NPP deceive themselves that because they have the EC at their beck and call and they are in power they can use money to influence the outcome of election after they have performed badly,” he stated.
