The Electoral Commission (EC) says it is investigating allegations that the Director of Communications of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Richard Ahiagbah voted in the 2020 general elections despite not being on the voters register.
Richard Ahiagbah in a statement on May 12, explained that he has been a voter in Ketu South since 2000 but had problems with his biometrics when he went to register in the constituency during the limited voter registration exercise, where he was advised to rectify in subsequent exercises.
The EC Chairperson, Jean Mensa assured that an update on the findings of the probe would be made available before the elections.
She said this in parliament on Friday.
“With the issue of Richard Ahiagbah, it’s an issue of major, major, major concern. You know that he was not on the register, but he was able to vote in 2020. It’s something that we are looking into, and we can assure you that in due course, we will come up with our findings and let you know.”
“We are looking into it, and I can assure you that before the election, we will give you a little update on how that happens,” she stated.
