Police at Kasoa in the Central Region have arrested 27 suspected criminals in a swoop on Thursday night.
The suspects were apprehended wigth items such as mobile phones, knives, round boards used for gambling as well as unspecified amounts of money.
They were arrested around High Tension, a suburb of Kasoa.
Briefing the media on Friday morning, the Kasoa District Police Commander, Superintendent Stephen Kofi Ahiatafu, said his outfit is determined to make Kasoa unattractive for criminals.
Police arrest 130 suspected criminals at Budumburam
The Police last week arrested 130 suspected criminals at various locations at Gomoa Budumburam in an operation carried out by police officers from the region and the national headquarters.
The police also seized some quantities of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp from the suspects in the community, which is noted for criminal activities.
Two arrested for alleged murder of Nigerian at Kasoa
In a related development, the Kasoa District Police today [Friday], arrested two suspects for their alleged involvement in the murder of a Nigerian, Shoot Ogani, at Kasoa on Wednesday.
The name of the two are: Ofori Yaw, 31-year-old trader, and Micheal Nkansah, 24-year-old student.
According to the police, the victim was allegedly stabbed by one Abbas Abdul, who is currently on the run.
The victim was rushed to the St. Gregory Catholic Hospital at Budumburam, but was pronounced dead on arrival.
The body of the deceased has been deposited at the morgue of the hospital for onward transfer to the Police Hospital for preservation and autopsy.
The police say a search for Abbas Abdul continues alongside investigations into the murder.
