The Centre for Peace and Reconciliation (CPR) last Tuesday held its second edition of Alternative Dispute & Conflict Resolution (ADCR) – Foundation Level course for organization heads. The course was attended by traditional heads, human resource managers, politicians, clergy among others to equip themselves on how to manage conflicts and be peace ambassadors.
Addressing the media, Dr. Emmanuel Kojo Hopeson said resolving of conflicts is no more a daunting task following the introduction of the CounseMed methodology which is the blend of Counselling and Mediation.
“CPR uses a unique approach which is different from the traditional way of resolving conflicts. CounseMed methodology is what we teach participants though some people use the Mediation Arbitration (MEDA) method. The CounseMed methodology helps to appreciate the human factors in conflict situations. About 75% of conflicts are triggered by the interpretation of the individuals, circumstances and situations”.
He added that “participants can resolve some conflicts after the first level of the course. The new method helps leaders to identify themselves, the conflict with themselves and the conflict with others and the find out the environment where the conflict emanates from and how to resolve it”.
Dr. Hopeson explained that a new method to ensure peace will be unleashed soon dubbed the Paradox of Peace.
“The paradox of peace stresses on how conflict erupts because in the quest to find peace, one party might do the opposite of what the other party wants”.
The Centre for Peace and Reconciliation (CPR) is a leading provider of counseling, conflict resolution and life management services.
“We accomplish these through individual and group counseling, mediation, and other alternative dispute and conflict resolution processes, trainings, workplace tailor-made unique products, community outreaches and research.”
“We are a faith-based organization with ‘Reconciliation’ at the heart of our activities. We seek to promote reconciliation of man to himself; man to others; man to his environment and; finally man to His God and creator,” Dr. Hopeson added.
Participants of the second of second edition of Alternative Dispute & Conflict Resolution (ADCR) – Foundation Level course pledged to work judiciously with the knowledge their acquire.
