The Nkwanta North District Chief Executive in the Volta Region, Jackson Kwame Jackayi, has appealed to residents of the area to honour their tax obligations towards the development of the area.
According to him, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is focused on delivering good governance required to improve the well-being of all, hence the need for Ghanaians to contribute.
He made this known during a town hall meeting held in Kpass, the district capital.
The engagement was used to explain the government’s policies and programmes to the people.
He mentioned that the assembly is putting innovative measures in place to attract investors into the area since the central government alone cannot solve the numerous challenges in the area.
Mr. Jackayi said the assembly has put some measures in place for its revenue drive, and therefore entreated the people to endeavour to honour their tax obligations.
On Education, the DCE expressed concern about how pupils below 18-years are found loitering at night and stated that the assembly has passed a resolution to punish any pupil seen outside his home from 8:30 pm.
The DCE added that lack of jobs for the teeming youth has become a security threat in the area, and therefore commended government for creating jobs through the Nation Builders Corps (NABCO) for 200 unemployed graduates in the district.
He called on the youth in the area to take advantage of the government’s several programmes.
Mr. Jackayi reiterated the assembly’s commitment to judiciously utilize its available resources to address critical problems of falling standard of education, poor health care delivery and poor road network in the area.
He charged the assembly members to play their roles effectively in the various electoral areas to accelerate development.
Some residents at Kpassa underscored the need for stakeholders in the area to join hands to move the district forward.
They however pleaded with government to as a matter of urgency fix the deplorable Nkwanta- Damanko road on the eastern corridor stretch.
