The Chief Executive for the Lower Manya Krobo Municipal Assembly, Simon Tettey, says he will do everything within his power to win the Lower Manya Krobo parliamentary seat for the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) to honour the late legislator Emmanuel Kwabena Kyeremanteng Agyarko who hails from the area.
Mr Emmanuel Kyeremanteng Agyarko was laid to rest yesterday, Saturday at Odumase Krobo, his home town in the Eastern Region.
His friends, family and party sympathizers were all at Odumase Krobo to pay their last respects to Emmanuel Kyeremanteng Agyarko who until his death was the Member of Parliament for the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency in Accra.
In a Citi News interview moments after the burial, the MCE for Lower Manya Krobo, Simon Tettey indicated that the New Patriotic Party constituency executives will work earnestly to win the Lower Manya Krobo parliamentary seat, a seat the former legislator contested but failed to win.
“His departure is a great loss to us and we are still sad about it but because of his unique style of politics and the way and manner he carried himself across the political divide a cross-section of Ghanaians including our President and his Vice and even political opponents are all here to pay their last respects.”
“We are going to work hard to maintain the legacy he left in Ayawaso to ensure we maintain the seat and also work in unity to win the Lower Manya parliamentary seat, a seat he attempted in 2008 but unfortunately could not win. I believe the honour we can give the late honourable member is to ensure we win the seat and we believe it will make him very happy whereever he is”.
A former colleague of the late legislator, Adei Nimo, pledged support to the NPP’s appointed parliamentary candidate for the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election, Lydia Alhassan Seyram.
“My former colleague was full of joy, excitement, selfless and it was difficult to tell if he was not in a good and for us as politicians those are the kind of people we need as leaders, he served everybody well. We are all Ghanaians and we have to be focused on building the country well because if we build the country well we will all leave together in harmony”.
“We are all here to do the work that our brother, my friend and former colleague Agyarko left behind, we are going to support Lydia to assume the seat to continue the good work he was doing to support the very good people of Ayawaso West Wuogon”.
The Lower Manya Krobo parliamentary seat is currently occupied by Ebenezer Okletey Terlabi of the opposition National Democratic Congress.
