The leadership of the two factions in the Dagomba Line clashes have pledged to live peacefully with each other after they signed a peace accord during a meeting with the Asokore Mampong Municipal Chief Executive.
The factions have indicated their resolve to peacefully coexist and end the clashes that have left three persons dead with several others injured.
The meeting which was held on Saturday night was part of series of meetings the MCE has held with both factions as a way of finding a lasting solution to the disturbances that started as a result of a dispute over a parcel of land.
The clashes which started last week Tuesday was re-ignited on Thursday leading to the destruction of properties after several structures were set ablaze.
120 people who were arrested and subsequently arraigned.
They have been remanded in police custody as hundreds have been displaced as many have also been relocated.
Police and military personnel are still patrolling the troubled suburb of the Asokore Mampong Municipality of the Ashanti Region.
Speaking after the meeting, Chief Executive for the Asokore Mampong Municipal Assembly who doubles as the Chairman for the Security Council, Alhaji Alidu Seidu said the meeting focused on how to find a lasting solution to the impasse between the two factions.
“I have met with the two factions in the Dagomba Line impasse at my office. We have resolved to come to a roundtable and find a lasting solution to the problem. Now, 120 people are in police custody and they have been placed on remand. Three people have been announced dead. Now the issue has to do with how we will get the dead bodies for burial as the Islamic custom demand and also get the 120 people released.
“On the basis of that, we have all decided that four people from each faction will come together, they will go from this evening to meet one faction, from there they will move to the other faction to send a signal of peace and oneness,” he explained

He appealed to the factions to desist from playing politics with the matter and also called on politicians to refrain from politicizing the matter.
He emphasized that the matter is purely a land dispute issue and has nothing to do with ethnicity, religion, chieftaincy or politics.
Alhaji Seidu indicated that the council after meeting the leadership of both factions will also engage the youth in the area to sensitize them on the need to coexist peacefully with one another in the area.
The MCE is hopeful there will be finality on the matter following the assurances from the leadership and the continuous efforts by stakeholders to ensure peace is restored in the area.
The leadership of the two factions also pledged to speak to their members on the need to ensure total peace in the area.
Meanwhile, the MCE on Sunday met the Ashanti Regional chief of the Dagomba community and the Deputy Ashanti Regional Chief Imam to get them to also intervene in the matter.
