The Ghana National Gas Company and Quantum Terminals, both gas value chain operators have handed over two teacher-quarters and a nursery school at a cost of about GHc2.5 million to two project-affected communities, Anokyi and Asemda in the Ellembele District.
The project beneficiary communities, Asemda and Anokyi had a four-unit two-bedroom self-contained teachers quarters costing GHc750,000 each, while an ultra-modern nursery costing GHc750,000 was also commissioned at Asemda at an extra cost of GHc200,000 for furnishing of teaching and learning logistics.
The General Manager of Technical Services at Ghana Gas, Robert Asmah, speaking at the commissioning said the project which began in 2016 follows needs assessment by Ghana Gas and Quantum Terminal in the two-communities which were in-line with their commitment to invest in the education and development of affected communities.
“Ghana Gas’ core CSR policy is to give back to the community, especially those within our catchment area. And so a percentage of our annual profit is set aside for CSR projects to improve the living standards of the project affected communities and the nation at large. In line with this objective that Ghana Gas and Quantum Terminal jointly agreed to embark on this CSR projects within the Anokyi and Asemda communities, following a needs assessment conducted earlier.”
“Three local constructors were also selected for the project which sod-cutting ceremony was held in 2016. These projects are aimed at addressing some of the educational challenges within these communities and to augment the provision of educational infrastructure in the district.”
The Human Resource Manager of Quantum Terminal, Anastasia Antoinette Abban, on her part said Ghana Gas and Quantum terminal are committed in their resolve to collaborate to contribute to the provision of educational needs in the project affected communities.

The Deputy Western Regional Minister, Gifty Kusi and the District Chief Executive of Ellembele, Kwasi Bonzoh who graced the commissioning of the projects commended Ghana Gas and Quantum Terminals for their joint effort to assist government to uplift educational infrastructure and general development in the Ellembele district and beyond.
