A Deputy Chief of staff and Political Assistant to the President, Francis Asenso-Boakye has donated ten computers, one scanner, and one projector to some selected schools within the Bantama Sub-Metro.
The beneficiary schools include Bantama M/A J.H.S, Bantama Methodist Primary & J.H.S and St. Anthony`s R/C J.H.S.
This forms part of his intention to provide computers to eleven basic schools in the area.
It is aimed at enhancing the ICT skills of students in Bantama.
Mr. Kingsley Atta, the Bantama Constituency 1st Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) thanked the Deputy Chief of Staff for the gesture and encouraged the students to take their studies serious to become better citizens for the country.
Speaking on behalf of the Chief Executive of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly, Mr. Oliver, the Administrator of Bantama Metro also lauded the Deputy Chief of Staff for the generosity he has exhibited to the selected schools.
Mrs. Mercy Boateng, who spoke on behalf of the Circuit Supervisors expressed their gratitude and promised the Deputy Chief of Staff that they will make good use of the computers to equip the students with ICT skills.
She also made a passionate appeal to the government through the Deputy Chief of Staff to assist the schools in the Sub-Metro with the following: furniture to furnish their classrooms, laptop computers for the Circuit Supervisors to facilitate their work, provision of adequate classrooms, high debt of electricity tariffs of the various school and provision of toilet facilities. She further made a request on behalf of teachers and staff of all the basic schools in the Bantama Sub-Metro under the Ghana Education Service to name their Annual Quiz Competition in his honour.
In his response, the Deputy Chief of Staff accepted their request to name their Annual Quiz Competition after him.
He assured the teachers that he will do his best to address their concerns through the appropriate state institutions. He also advised the students to take their studies seriously to justify the government`s investment in them.
He further called on individuals and groups to also support their communities.
