Otumfuo’s Asamponhene, Nana Kwadwo Afordour has been laid to rest.
Sub-chiefs from the Manhyia Palace who represented the Asantehene at the funeral, say the Asampohene’s death should be a wake-up call for all Ghanaians.
Chief of Kona, Nana Konadu Yiadom Kumanin IV in the Ashanti Region also cautioned residents to be mindful of their utterances in connection with the death of the Otumfuo’s Asamponhene.
“We are all aware of the tragic death of our Asamponhene. All I will say is that this incident should be a wake-up call not only to the chiefs but also to the Ghanaians as a whole. I will also be advised residents of Kumasi to be mindful of what they say regarding this incident. The things said about the incident are not appropriate.”
A prime suspect in the alleged murder of the late chief is currently standing trial in court.
He was arrested in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso on Monday, September 16, 2019 “through a collaborative effort of the Ashanti and Upper East Regional Police Command, the Ghana Embassy in Burkina Faso and the Interpol Ghana and Burkina Faso.”
Police investigations into the murder also indicated that Sadat Mohammed, aged 33, had travelled together with the Asampohene before his death.
Already, members of the Concern Zongo Youth in the Ashanti Region condemned the incident and called on the police to enforce the laws no matter the background of suspects.
The murder of the Asamponhene took place on the outskirts of Ebuom near Atebubu on August 18, 2019.
The Asamponhene’s body was left in the backseat of his Toyota Land Cruiser.
