Four rooms on a block at the Army officers mess at 37 in Accra was gutted by fire on Saturday.
The Ghana National Fire Service said investigations are underway to ascertain what caused the fire incident said to have occurred on around 9 am.
In an interview with Citi News, the Head of Public Relations for the Fire Service, D.O. Ellis Robinson Okoe, said although a good amount of personal belongings were lost to the inferno, no casualties were recorded.
“Three of the rooms and their contents had been totally burned and one was left. However, there were no casualties…Most of the things that got burned were personal belongings,” he said.
“Our men are on the ground investigating the scene and making all their assessments,” he added.
Other residents on the block affected by the fire have been asked to evacuate the block.
When Citi News visited the scene of the fire, other residents were seen departing the mess.
