A private citizen and resident of Ashongman, Isaac Antwi, popularly known as Chairman Ike, has joined the Queen Mother of Pokuase Djanman to donate items to the people of the area to aid the fight against COVID-19.
Items donated include Veronica buckets, cartons of water, hand sanitizers, liquid soaps, paper tissue etc.
The total cost of the items donated is about GHS100,000.
Chairman Ike has already supported hundreds of people in his neighbourhood with similar items and bags of rice to enable them cope with the challenges that have come with the partial lockdown directive of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
The Queen Mother of Pokuase Djanman, Nana Ama Djanbea II, joined hands with Mr. Antwi to reach out to her people in these difficult times to enable them protect themselves against the virus and also demonstrate how traditional leaders can contribute to complement the efforts of the government.
The team used the occasion to conscientize the public on the need to strictly observe all the precautionary measures and respect the directives of the President in order to help combat the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. They demonstrated how to properly wash the hands, practice personal and respiratory hygiene.
The Linguist of Pokuase Djanman, Nii Adama Tackie received the items on behalf of the community and led a team of volunteers to distribute to households.
