Fast-rising gospel sensation, Kafui Mills-Odoi will soon release her forthcoming single, “Simply Trusting”.
The inspirational song which features one of Ghana’s leading Christian artistes, Cwesi Oteng, will be launched virtually at 8 am on Thursday, April 16 on Sunny FM 88.7MHz and on her social platforms.
Explaining the reason behind the title of the song in an interview, Mrs. Mills-Odoi said, “It’s all about God ministering to me in the midst of some excruciating moments. I recall how after jointly planning the project with Minister Cwesi Oteng, I suddenly fell so ill and had no other choice than to trust God through every passing moment of executing this. In the midst of all that pain, Edgar Page Stites’s hymn ‘Simply Trusting Everyday’ gave me so much hope. Out of that birthed the chorus of the song as an added segment.”
On why she chose Cwesi Oteng for this single, she noted that, “He is one of the leading and willing artistes in the Christian music industry in Ghana,” adding that, “working with him has been very inspirational. He is very supportive and open to sharing innovative ideas and similar experiences of struggles and reinvention.”
“I would like to support hurting people, especially the younger ones, using music as a therapeutic medium,” she continued, stating that the youth are struggling immensely and need some spaces where they can exhale and see hope in the horizon.
When asked whether “Simply Trusting” is her best song, Kafui indicated, “I wouldn’t call it ‘best’ or use any other superlatives to describe the new song. I would rather say it is an inspirational song considering all the turbulence it has seen and the current painful moments we all are experiencing. It’s just about trusting God who’s given us life, believing that He who has started a good thing will bring us all to an expected end, day by day, minute by minute, hour by hour. Our expectations will not be dashed.”
Mrs. Mills-Odoi further hinted that she is yet to release many more songs and collaborations.
“Young people should take the time to grow, go through the uneasy process, taking time to understudy and cure their skills and not be in a hurry to get to the top. Most importantly, relying on God our creator, praying, learning from more experienced ones and digging deep into ourselves and thinking outside the box. The result will help us to turn our world, community and faith around positively. Basically, we are locked down but simply trusting,” she remarked in a piece of advice to Ghanaian youth.
Kafui Mills-Odoi is the former Chief of Party for the Youth Inclusive Entrepreneurial Development Initiative for Employment (YIEDIE) and the AGI Construction sector Youth Ambassador. Under her leadership, the project produced over 25,000 youth artisans for the construction sector.
