Volta Regional Minister, Dr. Archibald Letsa says he will in the coming days ensure stricter enforcement of COVID-19 preventive protocols as cases of infections in the region continue to rise.
Currently, the Volta Region has recorded 59 COVID-19 cases with two deaths.
Dr. Lesta made this known after he received two 10,000-cubic meter poly tanks from GCB as part of the company’s contribution towards the fight against the virus in the Region.
“If people refuse to adhere to the safety protocols, we will intensify the enforcement. For example, you can’t enter a GCB banking hall without a mask. Why should they do that? So if they do not comply, we will enforce it. That’s all. Why should people enter markets without masks? So they shouldn’t give us the opportunity to do that so they should voluntarily wear masks because they need to protect themselves and their families from infections.”
The Minister also tasked stakeholders, traditional rulers and the various district assemblies in the region to intensify their sensitization efforts to stem the spread of the virus.
“The education must continue to go on. Stakeholders in the markets and chiefs should continue to use the public address system every five to 10 minutes for everybody to be in the mask. I have received reports from all over the world that the compliance level on wearing the mask is so bad and so the assembles must seize the opportunity to enforce the protocols.”
