An independent parliamentary candidate in the Kintampo South constituency, Datiakwa Kojo Nyame, is unperturbed over his expulsion from the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Kojo Nyame who is a former District Chief Executive for the area was dismissed from the NDC after he decided to contest the upcoming election as an independent parliamentary candidate.
He was part of 18 others who were sacked from the NDC for contesting as independent candidates.
But speaking in an interview on the Voters’ Diary on Citi TV, Kojo Nyame said he feels indifferent with his expulsion saying “I feel okay and I am going on with my campaign.”
He insisted that the ground is fertile for his victory on December 7.
Incumbent MP, Felicia Adjei emerged victorious in the NDC’s parliamentary primaries.
Datiakwa Kojo Nyame has said he was cheated during the primaries hence his decision to contest as an independent candidate.
He said the leadership of the party had reached out to him to rescind his decision but said he is not convinced by their plea.
Agona East: Anthony Adjei
Anthony Adjei, another NDC member who is going independent in the Agona East constituency also spoke on the Voters’ Diary.
Mr. Adjei said he decided to go independent because he felt that the principles of probity, accountability and transparency upon which the NDC was built are currently non-existent in the party.
“I was a PNC member before joining the NDC. It doesn’t mean that if things are not going on the way you want, you should continue to be in the party. The reason why we joined the party is no more. It is now being run in the interest of some people and not the party. If you want to play by the gallery, you won’t get anywhere,” he said.
