Parliamentary Candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in La Dadekotopon, Rita Naa Odoley Sowah has rolled out several educational policies to support students and teachers in the La Dadekotopon Constituency.
One of the major institutions that have been ravaged by the coronavirus pandemic is private schools across the country. They have felt the brunt of the global pandemic than other institutions due the closure of schools.
To help mitigate their plight, Rita NaaOdoleySowah and her campaign team met with the La Private Schools Headmasters Association to discuss measures that can be instituted to support their schools and their teachers.
This meeting was also used as an avenue to outline the interventions she has for school children in La should she win the December 7 polls.
Establishment of reading clubs in all basic schools in the constituency will be prime in the policies, as well as the support to schools to set up modern ICT laboratories to equip the students in modern technological trends.
Though the La Dadekotopon Constituency is mostly made up of urban settlements, there are some less privileged communities in it as well.
To bring schools and students in such areas up to par with their colleagues in the more privileged areas, Rita NaaOdoleySowah as MP for La Dadekotopon will fund extra classes for such students.
The extra lessons will be focused on Mathematics, Science and English. She also made available teaching and learning materials for over 500 teachers in the constituency.
Additionally, teachers that will be recruited for this policy will be given additional stipends on their basic salaries as motivational packages.
All this fix into the broader educational policy by John Dramani Mahama and the NDC in their “People’s Manifesto”. The NDC is proposing that, should they prevail on December 7, they will include private schools in the ‘Free SHS’ initiative.
