One person has died in an accident near Kpalgigbeni, along the Bimbilla-Yendi Road in the Northern Region.
Three others also sustained injuries in the crash.
The 56-seater bus they were travelling in was reportedly heading towards Gushegu from Accra at dawn on Wednesday, 26th May 2021, when the accident occurred.
Information from the police indicates that the bus’ front tyre burst, with the vehicle falling on its side as a result.
The Bimbilla Municipal Crime Officer for the Ghana Police Service, DSP Kusi Pepra, narrated the incident to Citi News.
“This dawn, at about 2:50 am, we had a call from the Tamale Regional Communication that there was an accident at Kpalgigbeni, so we proceeded to the scene. We saw a Neoplan bus with about 31 passengers on board. The driver alleged that on reaching the outskirts of Kpalgigbeni, his front type got burst, he lost control of the vehicle, and veered off.”
Meanwhile, the injured persons are currently receiving treatment at the Bimbilla Hospital.
“Three people were injured and were taken to the hospital for treatment. One was however stuck in the vehicle, but before he was brought out, he was already dead,” DSP Kusi Pepra added.
