Police in the Oti Region have arrested a man for his alleged involvement in the killing of a 17-year-old herdsman at Sibriso, a village in the Biakoye District of the Region.
The incident occurred on Tuesday, March 1, when the herdsman, Sani Mohammed was shot and killed while his cattle were grazing.
Speaking to Citi News, the District Chief Executive for Biakoye, Millicent Kabuki Carboo, said the suspect, also a herdsman, was picked up because he had threatened the life of the deceased multiple times.
“According to them, he was in the bush with a colleague of his, and then he was shot. According to what I have heard, he has been transferred to the regional capital this morning.”
Clashes between herders over the years led to the loss of human lives.
