Green Africa Youth Organization (GAYO) and its partners have organized a beach clean-up and brand audit at the SANGO beach.
The exercise was held on Saturday, September 17, 2022. The day happened to be International World Clean-up Day.
The team from GAYO underscored the importance of cleaning up eco systems and properly disposing off the waste that is collected.
Jacob Johnson Attakpah, the project coordinator for Accra, said “it was not enough to do only a clean up, there had to be a brand audit as well.”
He added that data will be published to inform stakeholders on which brands pollute the most, re-enforcing the call to #breakfreefromplastic to serve as a wake up call for policy makers to take steps to ban single use plastics.
On her part, the assistant project coordinator, Mabel Laryea, joined the call and admonished locals to keep their frontage clean and segregate their waste to aid in realising GAYO’s goal of #ZeroWastaAccra.
