A meeting between the Coalition of Unemployed Physician Assistants and the Ministry of Health on Wednesday, May 3 ended inconclusively.
According to the Coalition of Unemployed Physician Assistants, a meeting with relevant stakeholders did not yield any positive results.
The group wants its members to be posted to various health institutions.
At the meeting, the Ministry of Health assured that it is still in consultation with authorities on their postings.
“At the end of the meeting, it was decided that the Ministry will continue to engage our mother body that is Ghana Physicians Association (GPA) to facilitate the postings of unemployed Physician Assistants,” the group said.
A member of the Communications team for the Coalition of Unemployed Physician Assistants, Dorcas Mawunyo Afia told Citi News that, they will continue to apply pressure on government until their demands are met.
“Our mother body referred to the representatives of the Ministry of Health that the sector minister had previously invited them for a meeting as according to a petition they had earlier on submitted. That was on the first of February and till date, they have not received any response from the Ministry,” she stated.
“Currently, we have been asked to leave the job for our mother body, but we are unable to do that because, GPA has been in consultation with the ministry for several weeks, months even more than a year, but we have still not seen results and for that matter, our people are going to put pressure until we have attained results” she concluded.
Seven members of the group were picked up by the police during a picketing on April 25, to demand their postings.
