Sixteen out of seventeen assembly members in the Ayawaso Central Constituency voted “yes” to confirm the nomination of Archibald Cobbinah as the municipal chief executive (MCE) for the assembly.
The vote, which took place on July 14, 2023, was a clear indication of the assembly members’ confidence in Cobbinah’s ability to lead the assembly.
In his acceptance speech, Cobbinah expressed his appreciation to the assembly members for their confidence and said that he would prioritize revenue mobilization as part of his vision for the assembly.
“I am keenly aware of the immense responsibilities that come with this position, and I assure you that I am fully committed to fulfilling them with the utmost diligence, integrity, and transparency,” he said. “Together, we will strive to achieve remarkable progress and create a brighter future for all residents of the municipality.”
Cobbinah also said that he would work to improve the assembly’s revenue mobilization system so that it can explore innovative initiatives to generate more revenue for the municipality.
The outgoing MCE, Alhaji Mohammed Quaye, expressed his commitment to cooperate with Cobbinah to realize his vision for the assembly.
“I wish to assure you of my full cooperation and support as you take over the reins of leadership of this assembly,” Quaye said. “I believe that together, we can achieve great things for the people of Ayawaso Central.”
