The Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) says its decision to procure and distribute smart meters to the public forms parts of efforts to gradually phase out its estimate billing systems.
The company noted that the move will help in the generation of the needed revenue for its operations.
Speaking at the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) on Monday, the Managing Director of the GWCL, Ing. Dr. Clifford Braimah says the smart meters will be read remotely by his officers which will aid in stopping the estimate billing system.
“We have acquired a lot of smart meters which will enable us to read the meters of the customers remotely without necessarily going to the premises of the customer and this is what will cure billing on estimates.”
