The lifeless bodies of three children, aged between three and six, have been found in the backseat of a saloon car at Elmina in the Central Region.

The children, Maame Akua, Fii, and Yaw, aged six, five and three respectively, left home on Sunday morning for church, unaccompanied by their parents.

[contextly_sidebar id=”zPtIi00vmdxtiWsXjjv0fTcmubI2TDDE”]The children did not return home after the church service of the Family Maker Church held at one of the classrooms of D/C JSS, near the District Magistrate Court of Elmina, a distance of about 400 metres from the deceased children’s home.

The three had earlier been reported missing after they did not return home from church on Sunday.

The police said early Monday morning, Shiny Amissah Dadziebo, the Proprietress of Holy Wood Preparatory School, located adjacent to the D/C JSS, found the three children dead in the back seat of her Kia Optima Saloon car with registration number CR 234-13 which was locked and parked inside her walled school compound.

The report says she found the bodies in her car when she tried to open the vehicle to send one of her children, who was unwell, to the hospital.

The bodies were inspected by the police but no signs of assault were found.

They have since been deposited at the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital mortuary for autopsy while investigations into their death continue.

The Public Relations Officer of the Central Regional Police Command, ASP Irene Oppong, told Citi News that preliminary investigations are being carried out to determine what caused the deaths of the children.

“This morning  [Monday], we had a complaint that three children aged 6, 5 and 3 years, one boy and two girls, were missing. But we had a proprietress of a school, coming to the police station to report that she went to open her car and found the three children in her back seat,” ASP Oppong said.

She urged the residents and opinion leaders of the community to assist them with any information that could assist them in their investigation.

This incident is the latest in a number of cases involving children within the last two months.

Police in Kyebi in the Eastern Region are investigating the mysterious disappearance of a 1-year-old baby earlier in March, from Kyebi New Town.

Although unofficial reports say about six babies have so far mysteriously disappeared in the area, official police records indicate one missing baby.

That incident came a week after two persons were arrested for allegedly beheading a five-year-old boy.

The two; Vikuriba Joe Zoot, 21, and Kozel Borama, 25, were arrested on March 7, 2018 with the human head in their possession at Ampabame near Sokoban in Kumasi.

In February 2018, the Agona Nkwanta District Police Command arrested 23-year-old Alex Tetteh for possessing a human head, believed to be that of a young boy.

The suspect was arrested by the people of Sankro, a village near Dixcove when he was searching for a potential buyer of the human part.
