The Bible Society of Ghana presented the host of the Citi Breakfast Show, Bernard Avle, and co-host Godfred Akoto Boafo with copies of the Africa Study Bible after the two contested in a Bible quiz on the Christmas Eve edition of the CBS.
The two had touted their knowledge of the Bible in previous editions of the show, with both Bernard and Godfred speaking of their past successes in Bible competition.
This culminated in Monday’s highly-anticipated quiz
The Bible Society of Ghana, prior to the contest, had pledged to award the winner, however, both contestants were presented with copies of the African Study Bible.
“I heard it on radio and thought it was an interesting one, especially for the Bible Society, which is the one that champions Bible translations in Ghana. I have with me, copies of the Africa Study Bible, it has notes with a specific focus on Africa. This Bible gives you proverbs that drum home, it is written by Africans,” said Catherine Odjidjah, a rep from the Bible Society of Ghana.
“For us at the Bible Society of Ghana, we want to make the Bible available to everybody. So winner or not, we want to give Godfred another chance so he can revise his notes, gather his vim and come back next time.”
Bernard Avle won the quiz with an emphatic 40 points, with Godfred Akoto Boafo coming second with 27 points.
