It is safe to say that the majority of us enjoy chocolate every now and again. However how many of us actually appreciate the art of chocolate making, let alone appreciate the richness of made in Ghana chocolate?
We process just about 20% to 30% of our cocoa. Ghana and Cote d’Ivoire, the two biggest producers of Cocoa in the world, also earn just about $5billion from the about $100 billion industry.
There are about 10 artisanal chocolate makers in Ghana trying to break into the industry.
One household name is Akua Obenewaa Donkor, aka the “Chocolate Lady.”
She successfully runs her own business, DecoKraft, a company that specialises in authentic, handcrafted chocolate.
DecoKraft not only offers private selections (requests/ orders), they also keep up with the demands and standards of the industry.
Art and Soul paid DecoKraft a visit to get insight into what it takes to be a private, top chocolate maker. Find out what they discover in the video below:
Art and Soul airs on Citi TV every Saturday at 8:30am
