The Police were forced to use tear gas to disperse protesting students of the University of Education, Winneba on Thursday morning.
The students were protesting against what they describe as leadership crisis at the school.
The demonstration started with students chanting war songs on the school’s campus.

The students in retaliation also pelted stones at the police leaving at least one officer injured.
The students have in the past three days been protesting the dismissal of some of their lecturers.
‘Why were they demonstrating?’
The demonstration is to demand the immediate removal of the school’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Afful Broni and the reinstatement of some lecturers and other staff of the University who have been dismissed.
Those dismissed staff include local UTAG president, Dr. Frimpong Kakyire Duku.
A senior lecturer, Dr. Emmanuel Osei Sarpong also had his appointment terminated by the school’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Afful Broni.
According to the Disciplinary Board findings in the letter terminating Dr. Sarpong’s appointment, he allegedly admitted walking out of a meeting with the chairman of the UEW governing council which “the Board considered as insubordination and thus misconduct.”
The National President of UTAG, Dr. Eric Opoku Mensah in a Citi News interview insisted that “there is an attempt make sure Dr. Kakyire Duku doesn’t hold himself as a UTAG executive, because they know what they can do with his office.”
“We as a national body do not recognise that decision that has been taken by the leadership of this university and therefore, UTAG together with other stakeholders are going to do whatever is necessary to make sure that justice prevails in this university,” he added.
The students have already boycotted lectures to press home their demand.
