Mother of the late Deputy CEO of the National Entrepreneurship Innovation Program (NEIP), Stacy Offei Darko, has said she suspects foul play in the case involving the death of her daughter who died at the Obengfo hospital after a surgery.
Nana Akosua Animah told Citi News that despite several follow-ups to the Police and the Medical and Dental Council, nothing is being done to bring Dominic Obeng Andoh to book.
The Medical and Dental Council has indicated that the Police have forwarded the docket to the Attorney General’s office for advice but Nana Akosua Animah said she is surprised the facility is still in operation.
“I really do not know what is happening with my late daughter’s case. When I went to the CID headquarters, I was told the case was being prepared for court but Obengfo has been bailed and is still operating illegally. The last I heard, the docket had been sent to the AG’s office.
“I have been to the Medical and Dental Council yet they say they do not have the power to shut down the place but the man is still operating and people are dying every day. I believe Obengfo is paying bribe to the people and that is why they are not following up on the case.”
Dr. Obeng-Andoh was being investigated over the death of Stacy Offei Darko at his medical facility.
According to the mother of the deceased, Nana Akosua Animah, her 37-year-old daughter fell ill and sought medical attention at the Obengfo Hospital but died after her admission.
In January 2017, the Medical and Dental Council closed down Obengfo Hospital for operating illegally.
That was the second legal action the facility faced after the council first revoked Dr. Obeng-Andoh’s licence in 2013 for operating illegally.
Dr. Obeng-Andoh was in December 2016, also arrested over the same issue after the Dental and Medical Council said it had received several complaints from some persons who patronized the facility.
According to the Council, Dr. Obeng-Andoh endangers the lives of his patients hence the move to stop his operations.
