Telecommunication giant, MTN Ghana has presented a cheque of GHS 20,000 to the Dormaa Traditional Council in support of this year’s Kwafie festival and the celebration of the 20th Anniversary of the enstoolment of the Dormaa Manhene and Dormaahemaa.
Aside from the presentation of GHS 20,000, the telecommunication giant also added a hamper of assorted drinks at the cost of GHS 1,000 and airtime worth GHS 500 to the Dormaa Traditional Council.
Over the years, MTN Ghana, the leading telecommunication network in the country has been in support of traditional events and festivals in the country.
Speaking to Citi News in an interview after the donation, the Area Sales Manager for Ashanti, Bono, Bono East and Ahafo Regions, Kwasi Osei Hyeaman, said MTN was delighted to join the people of Dormaa to celebrate 20 years of Enstolment of Osagyefo Oseadeayo Agyeman Badu II & Dormaa Hemaa, Nana Odeneho Akosua Fima II and Kwafie Festival 2019 as their visit to Dormaa Traditional Council seeks to strengthen the relationship that exists between MTN and the Traditional Authority.
“Our mission here today is in two folds, first to congratulate Osagyefo Oseadeyo Agyeman Badu II on the occasion of his 20th Anniversary celebration as the chief of Dormaa. Secondly, we are to present MTN’s support to the chiefs and people of this traditional area towards the celebration of the Kwafie festival”.
“At MTN, we acknowledge that festivals project a lot about the African society and are considered an integral part of the African culture. Against this background, MTN Ghana has placed special emphasis on extending its support to traditional councils across the country through cash and kind donations.”
We currently support over 30 festivals each year across Ghana and we are proud of these investments”.
He asserted in addition to this donation, MTN will ensure that their products and services are available for all.
The Vice-Chairman of the planning committee of the anniversary and festival celebration, Barima Dei Kusi-Gyabaa II and also the chief of Amaasu who received the donation on behalf of the Dormaa Traditional Council lauded MTN for the good and timely gesture.
He entreated the telecommunication giant to as a matter of urgency extend its service to some of the communities in the Dormaa Municipality which have no access to telecommunication network.
