The Okaikwei North Municipal Assembly has inaugurated market sheds at Kisseman in the municipality.
The 42-market shed fitted with LCD TV and radio is the first phase of a two-phase project with the second phase being lockable shops scheduled to be completed in December 2020.
In his inaugural address, the Municipal Chief Executive, Nii Boye Laryea said the whole project couldn’t be completed before occupation by the market women because of the sense of urgency needed to temporarily host the traders who have been selling by the roadside.
He thanked the market women for exercising patience during the construction stage adding that there are more goodies to come in the months ahead for the area.
Mr. Laryea assured the traders that their comfort was a major priority to the assembly which forms the basis for the facelift given to the market.
He commended the Member of Parliament for the area for the instrumental role he played in bringing the project to completion.
The MCE indicated that since assumption of office, it has been his foremost desire to meet the needs of the people to justify the confidence reposed in him by the President.
On his part, the New Patriotic Party Member of Parliament for Okaikwei North, Fuseini Issah said one of the core reasons for creating the assembly was to bring development closer to the people.
He said whatever was being witnessed was the benefit of voting for the party in 2016.
According to him, the projects outlined to be undertaken are numerous and in phases, and it would serve the interest of the people as they are completed in phases to meet their needs.
The Member of Parliament said the centrepiece of his vision was teaching and education for which reason he has instituted “MPs Mock Examination” which has largely benefited Basic Education Certificate Examination students in the municipality adding that for the sake of that scheme, most pupils have gained the necessary pass to enter schools of high repute.
Mr. Fuseini stated that the only legacy one can impart his generation with was sound education upon which all dreams could be achieved.
He said his outfit has instituted mobile libraries which would later translate into grounded libraries adding that this was to promote reading culture in the area.
Some other projects, he mentioned being undertaken include drains, a clinic, canteen, Astro-turf among others which are all ongoing.
He admonished the people to bear witness of the numerous achievement of the government and renew his mandate and President Akufo-Addo to continue the sound policies to better their lot.
