The presidential candidate of the Great Consolidated Popular Party (GCPP), Henry Herbert Lartey has conceded defeat in the just-ended elections held on Monday, December 7, 2020.
Although the Electoral Commission is yet to announce the winner of the presidential race, Mr. Lartey called President Akufo-Addo to throw in the towel.
This was disclosed by the Communications Director at the Presidency, Eugene Arhin in a Facebook post on Tuesday, December 8, 2020.
Mr. Lartey, according to Eugene Arhin, used the opportunity to congratulate President Akufo-Addo for supposedly emerging victorious in the election.
“The Presidential candidate of the GCPP, Dr. Henry Herbert Lartey, has just called President Akufo-Addo to concede defeat and congratulate him on his victory in the presidential election.”
The Returning Officer of the presidential election, Jean Mensa, promised to announce the results 24 hours after the close of polls. She subsequently postponed the deadline and said a new deadline will be announced in due course.
