A 10-year-old class three pupil of Dompoase M/A primary school has allegedly committed suicide at Atonso Bokuro in the Asokwa Municipality of the Ashanti Region.
Reports indicate that the incident occurred on Monday, August 9, 2021, when the 70-year-old guardian of Paul Boateng, the 10-year-old boy, left home to ply her trade at the market.
She however came home later to meet the lifeless body of young Paul, who is believed to have committed suicide.
The police say a co-tenant, who was the first to see what had happened, reported the incident to the Asokwa District Police Command on Monday evening.
The police followed up and conveyed the body to the mortuary as an autopsy is set to be conducted.
The Asokwa District Police Command says two persons including Yaw Sarpong, the young man who reported the incident to the police, have been arrested to assist the police with investigations.
Speaking to Citi News, the District Police Commander for Asokwa, Chief Superintendent Christopher Mpiani, said, “the two have been detained because we believe that they were both around at the time of the event. So we need them to assist us with investigations.”
“However, we are going to have an autopsy done to determine whether the young boy actually died through suicide.”
