The embattled Assin North Member of Parliament (MP), James Gyakye Quayson, has finally been served a writ invoking the Supreme Court’s original jurisdiction over his disputed membership of parliament. Attached to the processes served was also a hearing notice.
The Supreme Court granted an order for substituted service after several attempts to serve the MP in the past proved futile.
The service was thus published in the Daily Graphic newspaper on Saturday, February 26 as directed by the Apex court.
In this matter, the plaintiff, Michael Ankomah Nimfah, is seeking to injunct James Gyakye Quayson from carrying himself out as the Member of Parliament for Assin North.
His writ is based on an earlier High Court decision that invalidated the Assin North Parliamentary elections and ordered a re-run of the process.
The date of the hearing has now been set for Tuesday, March 5, 2022.
