Ordinarily, candidates who seek re-election are expected to campaign on their merits and achievements over the period of their stewardship than mere slogans or jargons. Electorates expect that such candidates’ campaign messages highlight the account of their stewardship, and achievements rather than rhetoric statements and insinuations.
The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. John Boadu, has recently come under fire as critics assert that he has no campaign message for his re-election bid. The question that people continue to ask is why a sitting General Secretary who is perceived to know it all is struggling to get a message to resonate with the electorate of the NPP. Party people are wondering why he is unable to campaign on his accomplishments but rather seeking refuge at the Jubilee House.
JB is aware that his story as a General Secretary has not been refreshing. It is rather poignant. For him to dwell on such is damaging to his political aspirations. He would therefore ride on the successes of others.
To dwell on the achievements of John Adwenk3se3 Boadu is to resurrect our painful and bitter past as a party. Yes! We remember one of his major achievements. In 2020, under the so-called abled and distinguished leadership of Uncle Adwenk3se3 JB, a number of electoral calamities than ever were recorded during the party’s internal elections. The Adwenk3se3 leadership gave birth to the “hung parliament,” which, undoubtedly, is affecting the smooth governance of the second term of His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. This will forever remain unforgettable experience in our party’s archives.
The recent happenings across the country give indication that Uncle Adwenk3se3 JB has no clue about contemporary party governance, management and administration. His failure and inability to use technology to address most of our internal electoral issues remain a worry to many.
To think of any achievements of John Boadu’s administration is to call to mind the unconcealed disregard for the welfare of party faithfuls, and his constant turning of a deaf ear to the plights of the grassroots. The blatant disregard for incoming calls from grassroots’ leadership is a recipe for apathy among our gallant lieutenants across the country making the breaking the 8 jinx a mere rhetoric than purpose-driven.
Yes, a monumental achievement of John Boadu is the unenthusiastic response given to, and occasionally, the utter disregard for the concerns of aggrieved party members over internal party issues and others. This hostility of the General Secretary continues to breed and increases the incidence of lethargy and averseness to party activities which have their own toll on elections outcomes.
From the foregoing, Mr. John “Adwenk3se3” Boadu is right to seek refuge at the presidency and elsewhere because no one gets re-elected on such an awful performance. If he claims other impressive accomplishments and outstanding merits contradictory to the aforesaid, he is advised to campaign on those so as to uphold the constitution of our party and its traditions.
