Police in Koforidua are investigating the deaths of two women who met their untimely deaths separately on Monday morning.
The first woman, an elderly woman, died on the spot after being knocked down by a speeding taxi cab at the Koforidua Old Estate Junction.
According to an eyewitness, the deceased was hit by the speeding taxi while trying to cross the road to the other side. The driver of the taxi cab, sensing danger, took to his heels after the incident, leaving the vehicle behind.
Similarly, residents of Gyamfikrom near Dabi Asem in the New Juaben North Municipality also woke up to find the lifeless body of a middle-aged market woman who is alleged to have been attacked and killed by unknown assailants.
The motive behind the unfortunate incident is unclear. However, the police, who visited the scene to convey the body to the St. Joseph Hospital, have commenced investigations and are appealing to residents and the general public to volunteer any information that will help with their investigations.
