The National Identification Authority (NIA) has called on Ghanaians to visit the various district offices to collect their cards.
This is part of Phase two of its special registration exercise, where Ghanaians aged 15 years and above have the opportunity to acquire their Ghana Card for free as first-time applicants.
Speaking to Citi News, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the Ablekuma North Municipal Assembly, Kofi Ofori, on behalf of the NIA, called on his constituents and Ghanaians to collect their printed cards.
“Ghanaians should try as much as possible to do things right. They come and queue here early in the morning to register. But when they finish registering, they don’t come for the cards. We have about 4,000 cards in the Ablekuma North Municipal Assembly here. People are not coming for them. Even the new ones that they said should come, since they started, the patronage is very low. When they give a deadline, say two weeks, you will not see anybody.
“So I am pleading with Ghanaians that they can come and take their cards now. Even if the new ones are open, they can come and those who have come already can come and take their cards. People will be at home and be complaining that they don’t get the cards when they come to the assemblies, but the cards are there. We have about 4,000 cards and I believe that the other assemblies have the same problem,” he stated.
