In a continued effort to recognize outstanding performers in the Literacy Challenge 2023, Citi TV and Citi FM have honoured Lois Nadomara Brew, a student from Ridge Church School in Accra, with a prestigious excellence medal.
At the grand finale on October 7, to be held at the Crystal Palm Hotel Annex in Tesano, the top 10 contestants will compete for the grand prize of GHS10,000 in a classic quiz competition.
In an interview with Citi News, Lois Nadomara Brew, a top 10 finalist, conveyed her heartfelt appreciation for this generous recognition.
“It’s very exciting. I feel very proud of myself and my school. I hope that I have encouraged my juniors. I hope that they take the initiative. Overall, I’m very happy. When I was writing the essay, I thought the idea for the story I wrote wasn’t very good, so I wasn’t very confident. And on the aptitude test, I’m not good in some aspects of science and math, so I wasn’t very sure I was going to come out as one of the top ten.”
“But I eventually did, so that is good. I hope to win, and even if I don’t win, I’m hoping that I will learn something new, even if I don’t get the prize, I will learn from my mistakes. So that I will know what to look out for in the next year’s contest,” Lois said.
Reverend Victor Brew, the awardee’s father, expressed optimism that his daughter will secure the ultimate prize.
“I feel proud of Lois. Lois is unassuming, and so she doesn’t project herself as such. But then, she’s very good, so I feel very proud of where Lois is. We look forward to Lois coming home with the top award. We are happy she has qualified for this round. We want her to be of herself. It’s not a do-or-die affair. I have just given her the room to explore. So we wish all the contestants all the best, and it’s our hope that if it’s God’s willing, Lois will take the top most award,” Lois’s father expressed hope.
Citi FM/Citi TV’s team has been going around the various schools to present awards to the top ten contestants.
Patrick Oscar Manuel Mireku, a student from Mary Mother of Good Counsel School, was yesterday presented with a prestigious excellence medal.
