Fawoman and Asuafu, two suburbs of Badu in the Bono Region, are in mourning after a heavy rainstorm killed three people and injured several others on Monday, October 30, 2023.

The tragedy occurred during a fun game organized by the chiefs and elders to climax their annual Bomtuo festival.

According to Joseph Okyere, the Assemblyman for Badu Asuafu, an intense spell of heavy rain and wind hit the community during the games, forcing residents to run for shelter in a dilapidated pavilion at the Badu R/C Junior High School in Fawoman.

However, the windstorm ripped off the roofing of the pavilion, leaving three men dead instantly. Several others were injured and rushed to the nearest health facilities.

The bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the Tain Government Hospital awaiting autopsy.
