Academic City University College and its industry partner, Pronto (Printbox Ltd), have donated to the Citi FM Foundation in order to assist the victims of the recent Akosombo Dam spillage.
Since 2021, Pronto, a manufacturer of hygienic quality and affordable tissues, facial tissues, toilet rolls and kitchen napkins in Accra’s south industrial area, has partnered with Academic City on various initiatives like placements, workforce development, internships and student projects.
A cheque for Ghc20,000 was presented to the Citi FM Foundation by Nelly Agyemang-Gyamfi, Director of Marketing at Academic City and Angela Bessa-Simons of Pronto’s Accounts and Administration Department.
In addition, the Academic City Students Representative Council and staff collectively donated an amount of GHC 6,400. Shawn Wilson, President of the Academic City Students Representative Council, made the donation.
Ms. Agyemang-Gyamfi expressed Academic City’s commitment to making a positive impact and stressed the significance of working together to achieve greater outcomes.
She further mentioned their admiration for the Citi FM Foundation’s work in aiding the Akosombo Dam spillage victims and their enthusiasm to be part of this selfless initiative.
On behalf of the students and faculty, Shawn Wilson stressed the importance of leadership in solving societal issues.
He went on to describe how the student body banded together to allocate monies from their budget and conduct fundraising activities on campus, partnering with the Jolavia Foundation.
