Last week Saturday, Africa’s biggest beach festival, Tidal Rave Festival executed a cashless system while welcoming more than 20,0000 Ravers to the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel.
The move to a digital platform provided a basis for ensuring the sustainability of the festival, as well as, providing a new form of monetization for creatives and talents who are part of the Tidal Rave Festival community.
In partnership with a Technology Partner, Tidal Rave started its cashless agenda by moving all ticket sales digital. This also provided an avenue for all the 20,000 plus Ravers to fund their Rave Balance with which all purchases at the Absa Ignition Market that served as the vendor market at the festival were made.
The technology partner’s entire cashless system was built around the use of a QR Code. After paying the ticket fee, every Raver was issued a QR Code which could be accessed on the Tidal Rave Festival website (www.tidalravefestival.com).
This QR code is first scanned at the Trade Fair, where Ravers went to receive their wristbands and boarded a shuttle afterward to the festival grounds at La Palm. There, the QR Code now served as a mode of payment. The Ravers loaded any amount of money to their individual QR code from either their bank accounts or Mobile Money wallets. With a funded QR Code, all they had to do was show it to a vendor at the Absa Ignition Market, who would then scan it to effect payment.
This provided a safe, secure, and ease of payment for the Ravers while also giving the budding young entrepreneurs protection of their sales and a quick turnaround time when serving Ravers.
This cashless system provided by the technology partner was one of many new innovations introduced by EchoHouse Ghana Limited, curators of the Tidal Rave Festival, to celebrate the 10th edition of the festival in Ghana.
The festival featured leading acts in the music industry including Sarkodie, Stonebwoy, Samini, KiDi, King Promise, Efya, DJ Vyrusky, Kojo Manuel, and a host of other talented Ghanaians.
Besides the music concert, Ravers also got to experience several games and activities including the Raver Runway for fashion lovers, the Creators Cove for all content creators. There was also the Surf and Step Zone for dance lovers, while the Surfside Stage offered back-to-back DJ sets. As a true, beach festival, there was a Beach Play Zone on the beach for Ravers as well.
Tidal Rave Festival also came with a myriad of Photo Experiences as well as curated brand activations such as the Captain Morgan’s Deck, Guinness Bright House, Fanyogo Treat Zone, Close Up Ball Pit, Fanta Play Zone, Absa Ignition Market, and a lot more experiences.
Tidal Rave Festival has been a youth cultural calendar activity and this year’s festival provided a lot of new and innovative experiences that Ravers will never forget.
