The Ministry of Education has assured students who were not placed in senior high schools under the Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSPS) that there are still placement slots available in several Senior High Schools across Ghana.
The Public Relations Officer for the Ministry of Education explained that, while many schools have enough space to accommodate students, most students are not being placed due to their high personal standards and preference for certain schools.
“If you look at the declared vacancies, that are available, measuring it with eligible students for placement, clearly there are a lot of vacancies. But the challenge has always been the choice of school, so you get all the Category A schools being choked, meanwhile, other categories of schools won’t have enough pupils,” he said.
The Ghana Education Service (GES) announced on November 28 that 108,025 students who sat for the 2023 BECE will have to do self-placement because they were not matched to any of their choices under the Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSPS).
Parents with wards facing these challenges are advised to visit solution centers set up across the country for swift rectification of their concerns.
