The Member of Parliament (MP) for Mpraeso, Davis Ansah Opoku, is advocating changes in the management of premix fuel to remove the influence of local assemblies.
According to him, the involvement of the Assemblies, especially Municipal and District Assemblies, does not augur well for the distribution of the product.
The Mpraeso MP made these remarks in an interview with Citi News on Tuesday.
“There are very pertinent issues that I think as a country we need to focus on. During the electioneering campaign, one of the issues we have to focus on is the management of premix fuel in our country and the involvement of MMDCEs in the management of premix fuel. It looks like the government must have a relook at it. I know there’s a law that pertains to it, there’s a law that involves the district assemblies in it.
“But I think that it is creating much of a problem, especially if you are an MMDCE who wants to determine how this premix fuel will be managed. And for me, it is one of the things that I will be championing in parliament to see if there can be an amendment to remove members of district assemblies from the management of premix fuel,” he said.
